patter[f83,jmc] Non-standard patterns

The pattern learning field has advanced since the time of Bruner, Goodnow
and Austin Study of Thinking and of Galanter's Concept Learning. However,
the notion of concept or pattern is still a bit unimaginative as
exemplified by Winston's book on AI.

Here are some patterns that don't fit into present paradigms.

1. Set of sets totally ordered by inclusion. The example given
at my lectures in Illinois and Korea included both geometric figures
and geographic locations.

2. The ins have bilateral symmetry.

3. The ins have some symmetry.

It is worthwhile to check out Bongard again.
